Our SMS and WhatsApp event reminders are controlled in your box office settings. By switching on you give your ticket buyers the option to receive event reminders and confirmation messages at a price you determine.

  • Confirmation sent immediately after purchase
  • Event reminder sent 24hrs before your event

You determine the cost

Sending WhatsApp/SMS reminders is a paid feature, and costs 10p per event, per order. How you price this is up to you, but here are some common options:

  • Charge 20p and keep 10p per reminder
  • Charge 10p to cover your costs
  • Offer it for free and absorb the cost

Why send reminders by WhatsApp or SMS instead of email?

Because inboxes are noisy and texts get read. Open rates on WhatsApp and SMS are dramatically higher than email, which means fewer no-shows, fewer "I forgot it was today!" messages, and a better experience for everyone. Less empty seats. Happier buyers. Job done.

What messages get sent?

Two per event. An instant confirmation when the ticket is booked, and a reminder 24 hours before the event starts. That's it. No spam, no marketing.

How much does it cost my ticket buyers?

Whatever you decide. The default is 20p per event, per order, and that's what we'd recommend. We've found anything under 30p tends to get a healthy opt-in rate. Anything over £2 and people start to think twice.

How much can I earn from WhatsApp/SMS reminders?

That's up to you. Charge your buyers 20p per message and you'll keep 10p as profit, with the other 10p covering your cost to Ticket Tailor. You can also choose to charge less, break even, or offer it free to your buyers and absorb the cost. Most Event Creators stick with the default 20p.

Will my buyers actually opt in?

In a word: yes. Reminders are genuinely useful. People don't want to miss the event they've paid for, and a quick text the day before is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Pricing it sensibly (we'd say 30p or under) makes opt-in feel like a no-brainer.

Is this available for free events?

Not at the moment. WhatsApp/SMS reminders are available for paid events in GBP, sending to UK phone numbers.

Is it safe and compliant?

Yes. Buyers opt in at checkout and consent to receiving messages from Ticket Tailor on behalf of you, the event organiser. They can text 'Stop' to opt out of WhatsApp at any time. SMS reminders are transactional (not marketing), so they don't require an opt-out by law.

What happens if a message fails to send?

If the WhatsApp message doesn't go through, we automatically try SMS as a backup. If both fail, the reminder is logged as failed and you can see the reason on the order page. So even when things go wrong, you're never left in the dark.
