Archiving the River Stour

A day spent exploring library archival material, mapping the River Stour and its impact on the community. 

This one-day archival project will aim to create a  small temporary exhibition which will be displayed publicly at Canterbury Library from 22– 26 September in celebration of Stour Valley Riverfest and World Rivers Day.

This is a small group event which will run from 10.30-2.30pm and there are 12 tickets available (1 booking per person). We will have a break from 12.30-1pm, so please either bring a lunch with you or feel free to head out to the high street to pick something up.

In the morning we will explore the archives and what the library holds on the River Stour from nature to heritage and communities. We will map the archival material along a drawing of the stour and create a temporary exhibition which will be viewed in the library from 22-26 September. If anyone would like to bring their own archival photos of the river or personal stories, they are welcome to do so. 

Access: Canterbury Library has lift access to all floors and level access into the building from Best Lane. It has a changing places facility
