London Spanish Book & Zine Fair 2026

The LSBZF returns to Conway Hall, London WC1R 4RL, on Saturday 3rd October 2026 featuring renowned writers and publishers, new voices and a curated selection of Spanish-language literature, translations and bilingual works. Down to Earth is this edition’s theme!

The line-up of presentations at the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair features internationally acclaimed writers Mónica Ojeda (Ecuador), Rosario Villajos (Spain), Quinny Martínez-Hernández (Colombia), Gonzalo C García (Chile / UK), Karina Lickorish-Quinn (Perú / UK) and Sonia Quintero (Colombia), among others.

Explore works from more than 60 participating publishers in the exhibitors’ hall and join us for presentations, poetry readings, panel discussions, workshops, children’s activities and more. Authors and publishers from Spain, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Venezuela and the United States will exhibit and sell their latest works in the exhibitors' hall.

All activities are free to attend with your general admission ticket except the creative writing workshops with Mónica Ojeda and Rosario Villajos, where a booking ticket is required. When you buy a ticket for a paid workshop, admission to the book fair is included. 

This year’s theme is DOWN TO EARTH and the official poster has been designed by Flora Márquez.

The book fair is open to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM.
We suggest arriving early for your visit as we receive a large number of attendees.

Access to Conway Hall

All the ground-floor rooms are fully accessible by wheelchair. Main Hall (street access, step-free). There is also an accessible toilet on the ground floor opposite the Brockway Room. Unfortunately, due to the age and Grade II listing of the building, there is no lift access to rooms above the ground floor. This includes the Conway Hall library, balcony seating in the Main Hall, the stage and Green Room in the Main Hall.

This talk will bring writer and translator Adam Feinstein exploring León de Greiff’s poetry with Chilean authors Gonzalo C. García and Catherine Bernales Lamig while sharing their experiences of identity, belonging and transformation.

Racialised Memory from Academia and Independent Publishing. Chaired by Jesús Sanjurjo-Ramos with Quinny Martínez Hernández (Plataforma Cero), María del Pilar Kaladeen (Wasafiri Magazine) and Aissata M’ballo Diao (Jaŋde Editorial), the conversation begins with a practical question: What does it take for a story to be published? Archives that stay silent, languages that do not match, funding, distribution and the always political decision of who a text is addressed to.

Mónica Ojeda in Conversation with Lala Toutonian

Mónica Ojeda (Ecuador) is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Latin American narrative. In Mónica Ojeda 's books earth is never a refuge or a source of stability, but rather a surface that opens up. In Mandíbula and Nefando (Editorial Candaya / Coffee House Press), the territory carries a religious and bodily charge almost violent; in Las voladoras and Chamanes eléctricos en la fiesta del sol, the Andean landscape —the paramo, the volcano— is a territory stripped of idealization, with its own internal earthquakes, yet simultaneously affected by its relationship with human beings and their way of being.

Rosario Villajos in Conversation with Beth Hickling-Moore
In SPANISH with a bilingual reading at the end (English/Spanish)

Rosario Villajos was born in Córdoba, Spain. She's the author of La Educación Física (Seix Barral, 2023) and Cortarse el cabello (Seix Barral, 2026), a work framed as an act of revelation and survival in which she allows autobiographical nuances to emerge, only to cloak them in a fantastical mantle, among others. Her narrative voice explores her own identity through the body and captures the feeling of a generation, unique and at the same time, universal. Winner of the 2023 Biblioteca Breve Prize for La educación física, her work stands out for its focus on identity, consent, and women's life experiences. In her writing, she draws on rage and social discontent as fundamental creative driving forces. In this conversation with translator Beth Hickling-Moore they will discuss Rosario's books, her realistic and visceral approach and her critical perspective on social and gender norms.

Down to Earth. A Poetry Reading Open Mic

An intimate and multilingual celebration of poetry, community and the many ways we remain connected to the earth and to one another. Curated by Newham Poetry Group with the participation of community group Palacio de Poetas. With the participation of Palacio de Poetas: Amanda Vilanova, Camila de La Parra, Maria Cuervo; Maru Delgado (FIL Arica, Chile) and Newham Poetry Group poets: Charlynne Bryan, Florence Njideka Chukwuonye, Danial, T Balogun, Yvonne Murray, Shardinne Blackman and Sonia Quintero.
Through poetry, we will explore our connections to land, home, migration, identity, memory and belonging, the places we come from, the ground we stand on, and the worlds we carry with us.

Creative writing workshop with MONICA OJEDA
In SPANISH at Conway Hall Library (First floor) / This is a paid workshop and a ticket is required
Mónica Ojeda has been recognised for her exploration of fear, the human body and violence through a deeply poetic and critical lens. In this workshop, the author will explore the imagination as a space of risk and resistance, as well as the role of writing in the construction of possible worlds. Before the workshop, participants will read a short story by Felisberto Hernández and watch a conference inspired by Agota Kristof. Then they will be guided towards producing a text on their own.
This workshop ticket includes general admission to the book fair and other activities.

De la sensación a la emoción.
Creative writing workshop with ROSARIO VILLAJOS
In SPANISH at the Green Room / This is a paid workshop and a ticket is required
In this workshop with Rosario Villajos, we will use automatic writing as an exercise in inspiration drawing upon bodily sensations and their transformations to get a short story. You will craft a text of flesh and blood and seek out stories of a more universal nature.
This workshop ticket includes general admission to the book fair and other activities. Book early, limited availability.

Down to Earth. STICKER WORKSHOP with Art House Project London
In ENGLISH / SPANISH at Main's Hall Stage
Bringing the colourful, rebellious and collaborative vibes of the London International Paste-Up Festival to the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair! Join Spanish artist Apparan for a hands-on sticker-making workshop inspired by this year’s theme, DOWN TO EARTH exploring our connection with the planet, nature, community and each other. Using drawing, collage, lettering and mixed media, participants will create their own original stickers responding to the question: What does being “Down to Earth” mean to you? Think plants, people, roots, climate, belonging, equality, positive messages or simply let your imagination grow wild. All ages and experience welcome.

On the Art of Translating the Guaraní Imaginary with Iliana Franco Alvarenga
In ENGLISH / SPANISH at the Green Room

Sobre el arte de traducir el imaginario guaraní

"Word" and "soul" are both ñe'ẽ in Guaraní. "Translate" has five meanings in Guaraní because translating involves movement and transformation. In this language, translating is like transforming one's being. In this introductory workshop, we'll explore Guaraní as a poetic language and translate verses inspired by the ritual sounds of Guaraní to connect with the earth, and thus discover everything that’s at stake when translating Indigenous languages. No prior knowledge of Guaraní is necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm and inspiration. Iliana Franco Alvarenga was born in Paraguay, is a literary translator and artivist (guaraní-español-inglés). One of her recent projects was the multi-award-winning book Las niñas del naranjel by Argentine writer Gabriela Cabezón Cámara.

The Bestiary of London. Families Writing and Collage Workshop
WORKSHOP with KARINA LICKORISH-QUINN

In every culture there are mythological monsters that represent the experiences and fears of the community. In this workshop for all ages we are going to draw on monsters and beasts from our cultures and place them in London to explore our fears and experiences of the city. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Become a Storyteller with The Equestrian Greyhound
In ENGLISH / SPANISH at Main's Hall Stage
Recommended ages: 2 to 12 years old
Join The Equestrian Greyhound (El galgo ecuestre) at the little tent for little readers. Enjoy reading Pombo's literary picks: from exciting adventures to the most incredible characters! Take your time to read and think about what your next adventure will be! Published in the UK, The Equestrian Greyhound is a magazine for children that aims to build a community of young storytellers around the world.

2 PM to 3 PM
Afternoon Storytelling: The Legend of yerba mate
In SPANISH at Main's Hall Stage
Recommended ages: 0 to 12 years old
Celebrating the National Year of reading, join this storytelling for children with teacher Esdian Boyadjian, featuring two inspiring Down to Earth stories: Yací by Mariana Ruiz-Johnson (Argentina) and La higuera by Juana de Ibarbourou (Uruguay). 
Recommended ages: 0 to 12 years old. 
Guaraní mythology tells that Yací, the daughter of the Moon Goddess, descended to the jungle to give us yerba mate. Along the way, the little girl will discover many incredible things about life on Earth. La higuera by Juana de Ibarbourou (Uruguay) is an adaptation of the celebrated poem that reflects on beauty, self-esteem, and empathy.

The London Spanish Book & Zine Fair is a project organised by La Tundra, London’s Magazine and Platform in Spanish since 2011. Since 2019, the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair is the first dedicated event to publications (books and fanzines) in Spanish (Bilingual / English translations) in the United Kingdom. The LSBZF is a voluntary non-for-profit organisation.

Presentation of the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair will take place on Thursday 1st October at Instituto Cervantes London at 6 pm with the London’s premiere of Vasto Mundo, an animation short film directed by Ande Films —Ana Rivadulla Crespo (Spain) and Adelaida Monguillot (Argentina)— based on the comic book Vasto Mundo by Flora Márquez (Argentina). Tickets for the presentation
