As You Like It by The Handlebards at Rock Hall, Rock 2026

Join The HandleBards at Rock Hall for a bicycle-powered, laugh-out-loud production of Shakespeare’s 'As You Like It'.

Pedalling from venue to venue with all their set, props and costumes on the back of their bikes, the HandleBards are a four-strong troupe of actors who are spending the summer bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK. Join the troupe at Rock Hall for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s 'As You Like It' like you’ve never seen before.

In the usual HandleBards style of energy with a fair old whack of chaos, and a great deal of laughter. And what’s the play about? Well- Rosalind and Orlando have been forced into exile in the Forest of Arden. As lovers, they become entangled in a bizarre game of lust, love and mistaken identity. As always , there is much scheming, frivolity and melodrama in Shakespeare’s famous comedy.

This is an outdoor performance, so please bring your own low-backed chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic to tuck into and dress for our Northumberland weather!

Car parking is adjacent to the performance field and our volunteer stewards will direct you. Please bring a torch as it maybe dark when you leave and the car parking will be unlit. Disabled Parking - blue badge holders will be directed to the designated area.

Please note photographs will be taken of the event for social media purposes for the Hospice.

Notes on Performance

• Gates open at 5.30pm, so bring a picnic and come and enjoy the surroundings.
• Chairs, picnics, blankets and any other low-level accessories are welcome.
• In case of rain, please don’t bring umbrellas as they block sight-lines for other audience members. Ponchos and raincoats are just as fetching, so please wear these instead.
• Don't forget the midgies!!
